Q: This is my first time visiting a spa.  What treatments do you suggest?
A:
For facials, we suggest that you book a one hour Keldara Classic Facial.  Our professional aestheticians will analyze and recommend a skincare treatment for your specific skin type and condition. If you are not sure you would enjoy a 60 minute treatment, we suggest booking the Mini-Facial which is 30 minutes.  The Mini-Facial is a nice introduction to facials.

For massage, we suggest booking a 60 minute Relaxation massage.  It is the most popular massage offered.  Should you want specific work done, we suggest a 60 minute Combo or Deep Tissue massage.

For pedicures, we suggest you book the classic pedicure.  It is a results-oriented pedicure focusing on improving the condition of your nails and skin using products from our specialized foot care product line, Footlogix. This foundation pedicure includes a foot soak, nail trimming, filing, cuticle and callus care, foot and leg massage and a beautiful polish application.

Q: What is a Vichy Shower?
A: A Vichy Shower is a six-headed shower that flows with rain-like waters. It can be used during a Salt Glow, the Caribbean Therapy Body Treatment and any of our Body Wraps. Overall, it helps to cleanse and relax the entire body.

Q: How far ahead should I book my appointment?
A:
Peak hours are often late afternoons, evenings and weekends (especially Saturdays). We recommend you book as far in advance as possible in order to ensure getting the particular time, day, and service provider you want. We strongly recommend pre-booking your next appointment before you leave.

Q: Is there a place to store jewelry?
A:
We strongly recommend leaving your jewelry at home. We regret that we cannot be responsible for loss or damage to any valuables. We are able to provide a secure locker, but be mindful not to leave your valuables behind if you choose to take them into your treatment.

Q: How do I communicate my preferences during my treatment?
A: We will do our best to modify aspects of your treatment to suit your preferences: amount of lighting, music decibel, room temperature, and whether or not you choose to have a conversation or enjoy the treatment in silence. If you prefer the therapist to use a deeper pressure or ease up on the pressure, let him or her know. Also, feel free to ask questions. Your therapist will appreciate knowing your thoughts and clarifying any issues you may have. If any part of your experience is unsatisfactory, first tell the therapist. If the response isn't helpful, ask to speak to a supervisor.

Pregnancy or Medical conditions
When you arrive for you appointment, you will be given a medical intake form.  This form is used by our Spa Therapists to better understand your needs as well as be aware of certain medical conditions. Some treatments may not be able to be performed due to medical conditions.  If you have questions, please call us at 781-251-6600 ext. 221 and the Spa Director will handle your questions with the utmost confidentiality.

Clients undergoing Chemo or Radiation therapies
We have several therapists on staff trained to provide services for guests who are undergoing these treatments.  However, we request that the client bring a doctor's note that states the doctor is aware and agrees to the the desired treatment.  Also, we want to be sure to book our clients with the correct therapists. Not all of our therapists are trained in this area.

Modesty issues
Therapists are well trained in the "art of draping" which means that they keep you covered and comfortable at all times except for the area of the body they are working on. Before the service begins, the therapist will leave the treatment room while you get under the sheet for a facial, body treatment or massage. At the conclusion of the service, the therapist will leave the room for you to change and wait for you outside. You may dress down to your comfort level, completely undressing is not necessary.

Sun and spa going
We recommend avoiding the sun on the day of treatment and, in some cases, the day after. And always wear sun protection!

[top]

Eating and drinking
We suggest not eating for at least an hour before a treatment, and avoid the consumption of alcohol on the day of a treatment. Drink plenty of water before and afterward, especially after a massage, body treatment or body wrap.

Cell phones
The spa must be as quiet as possible to create a tranquil and relaxing environment for spa services. Therefore, we require cell phones to be turned off before entering the spa.

What to wear during a body treatment or body wrap
For body treatments, you will be provided a robe and disposable underwear for your treatment.  Spa Therapists are trained in proper draping techniques which means you will not be exposed during the treatment.  Also, the Spa Therapist will walk you through most of the steps prior to your body treatment or body wrap so that you can fully relax and enjoy your service.

When to arrive and when to leave
As a Spa patron, you are welcome to stay at the Spa as long as you like. Enjoy the Ladies Lounge, have some tea, linger to your heart's desire... just make sure to allow enough time before and after your treatment to change clothes and enjoy any of our amenities.

If this is your first visit, please arrive 20 minutes prior to your treatment so that we can get you checked in and familiar with Keldara. In order to remain on schedule for all our clients, we may shorten your treatment time if you are late for your appointment. The normal fee for treatment will remain the same.

Male and Female therapists are available
Please let us know of any preferences you may have when you book your appointment.

Don't feel pressure to communicate with your therapist
In the Spa, silence can be golden and provide a relaxing and meditative atmosphere. If you feel like chatting, we'll chat. But if you want to escape in silence, we wholeheartedly support you!

[top]

Gratuities
Your Spa treatment fee does not include gratuities. Between 15 and 20 percent for each person who gave you a service is customary, but you may of course leave more or less, depending on the quality of the service. It's easiest to leave the tip at the reception desk when you pay your bill rather than giving it directly to the therapist. We provide small tipping envelopes at the front desk or you can add gratuity onto your credit card.

Spa Parties
Keldara specializes in group functions, whether they are business-related, wedding parties, family reunions, or just friends. Ask to speak to our Special Event Coordinator, Lynae, for more information. She can be reached at 781-251-6600 ext. 208.

Children
Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the spa unless receiving a service. Clients receiving a Massage or Body Treatment must be 18 years or older. Clients receiving other spa services must be 6 years or older. Clients between 6 and 12 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

This is a professional Spa establishment
Our trained therapists and aestheticians are here solely to help improve your health, body and psyche. If a therapist ever feels that a client is behaving inappropriately, they are authorized to stop the treatment immediately.
